nathan kept himself from rolling his eyes, silently wishing that his mother wouldn't worry so much about him. he had just fallen of the tree in their backyard, after unsuccessfully trying to climb it. he hurt his arm and his leg was in a bit of pain, but it wasn't something to have a complete cow over. "im not going to die because of this mom"he said, suddenly wishing he hadn't. both mary and his mother looked up at him, with sad looks on their faces. nathan had probably just reminded them of his father, a memory far worse than any they shared. he mentally hit himself, wishing he could actually hit himself but that would just hurt his arm even more. truth be told, nathan never thought before he said anything, a habit that would have to be fixed so no mistakes would be made. he knew that if mary had said that he would have been upset as well, so he couldn't say that both his mother and sister were exaggerating, this was one of the few things they were serious about.
"im sorry.... if you want i'll go to the hospital"nathan said before slowly stepping away from his mom, who still had a solemn, blank look on her face. she would probably be like this when he got home. nathan quickly headed out the front door, knowing that he would now have to go to the hospital, a place he detested. he believed hospitals didn't do much for their patients, seeing as his father couldn't be helped when they sent him to one. it might have happened years ago but the memories always stayed on their minds. nathan walked past the family car, which he was now allowed to drive, and walked to the hospital which was only a mere ten minutes away. that was one of the many things he liked about forks, you didn't have to walk everywhere because it was a relatively small town and many of the buildings were close together. he reached the hospital in record time and walked in, only to be hit with the strange smell that was in every hospital.
the smell of death and antiseptics. it made him sick to his stomach but he tried ignoring him, a task which proved to be a little difficult. he walked up to the reception desk which was taken care of by a nice looking old lady, with snowy white hair and skin a pale as everyone else that lived here. he told her that he needed to get his arm checked and she sent him to the waiting room, but not before telling him that a doctor would be with him shortly. nathan sat in one of the many chairs in the average size waiting room, noticing that not many people were in here. figures...he thought before leaning back on the chair and waiting anxiously. he tried thinking of ways to distract himself, and with worked for a while. of course he wasn't brought back into reality until he heard a voice coming from a person that was most likely trying to get his attention. he turned his head, trying to see who exactly it was that made the noise.
